HR & H&S Business Partner - Rotorua

Active VMA is a dynamic, privately owned company.  They specialise in the manufacture of heavy vehicle equipment and equipment modifications to excavators to suit operator and regulatory requirements in the forestry industry. Their aim is to be a sustainable business of international quality and to provide a safe and happy workplace for their employees who in turn will provide products to their customers that represent good value for money.
 
The Human Resources and Health & Safety Business Partner will be responsible for employee related matters, such as job design/description, recruitment, employee relations, performance management training and development and talent management as well as to provide the Management Team with advice, support and functional leadership for health, safety and wellbeing, promoting a positive health and safety culture throughout the organisation.
 
Key aspects of this role include:
  • Primary support contact for all on-site recruitment
  • Development of HR plans across business units
  • HR Policy, Process Support and Advice
  • Implementation of specific HR initiatives
  • Training and Apprenticeship liaison
  • Coach and facilitate at relevant workshops and seminars
  • Operational Health, Safety and Wellbeing
  • Hazard and risk management

Our ideal candidate will have:
  • a relevant tertiary qualification, with 3 years + experience within a similar role.
  • You will have a record of success in a generalist role, with strong functional HR &/or H&S experience.
  • You’ll be hands-on, take a practical approach, enjoy working within a manufacturing environment and ultimately be a real people person.
  • Have a solid understanding of NZ employment legislation and previous experience with Employment Relations.
  • Have a solid understanding of NZ Health and Safety legislation and previous experience with the practical application of this in a workshop environment.
  • Have clear and accurate communication, excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Have excellent computer skills and HR systems experience – HRIS/MS Office.
  • Are proactive, like to problem solve and come up with solutions that are fair and consistent.
