About Te Taura Ora o Waiariki
Te Taura Ora ō Waiariki is the legislated Te Arawa Iwi Māori Partnership Board for Rotorua and surrounding areas. Established in the Pae Ora Act (2022), the organisation represents local Māori perspectives on health needs and aspirations, monitors health sector performance, and influences the design and delivery of health services to Te Arawa. Through their work, they seek to improve hauora outcomes and ensure the voice and aspirations of Te Arawa are realised.
Te Kōwhiringa / The Opportunities
We have two exciting permanent opportunities based in Rotorua for passionate individuals to join our small, dedicated team working at the heart of iwi-Māori leadership.
Pou Oranga - Projects - Lead and manage key projects from our annual workplan that give effect to the Board's Strategic Plan, coordinating the full project lifecycle while ensuring all initiatives are grounded in Te Ao Māori and uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Whānau Voice Lead - Lead and deliver our Whānau Voice programme, ensuring whānau perspectives are heard, honoured, and embedded into health system design and decision making through culturally safe and mana-enhancing engagement.

Ngā Haepapa Matua / Key Responsibilities include
Pou Oranga Projects:
• Leading and managing key projects that reflect our vision for hauora Māori
• Building trusted relationships with Iwi, Hapū, Māori providers and regional partners
• Coordinating project lifecycle from planning through to evaluation
• Embedding Te Tiriti principles and equity throughout project design
Whānau Voice Lead:
• Leading design, implementation and management of the Whānau Voice programme
• Coordinating contractors and engagement activities to ensure quality delivery
• Facilitating hui, wānanga and community engagement events
• Ensuring whānau insights inform health system change
Tohu me te wheako / Qualifications & Experience
- Proven project management experience in health, social services, or kaupapa Māori settings (2-4+ years)
- Strong cultural competency and demonstrated experience managing Iwi Māori relationships
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills with ability to engage respectfully with Māori communities
- Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to Māori health equity
- Relevant tertiary qualification in project management, business, health, Māori development or related field
- Te reo Māori capability an advantage but not essential
