Ko wai tātou | Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Communications Consultant to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis based in Rotorua. Within this role you will develop and deliver exceptional communications and public relations services to achieve strategic outcomes for a diverse client base. You'll demonstrate outstanding customer service and professionalism while supporting client relationships, securing media coverage, and creating compelling content across multiple channels. This dynamic role encompasses traditional PR activities, digital communications, event management, and client advisory services. You'll be instrumental in telling the stories that matter, while contributing to a financially resilient, growth-focused business.

Tohu me te wheako | Qualifications & Experience
  • Tertiary qualification in communications, public relations or journalism required
  • Minimum two years' experience in communications consultancy, in-house communications, or marcoms/media positions
  • Proven track record in strategy implementation, client liaison and media relations
  • Experience developing media releases and articles for publication across multiple channels
  • Digital communications, social media management, and event coordination experience
  • Understanding of tikanga Māori and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

  • Exceptional communication skills with outstanding writing ability and a great news sense
  • Strategic and creative thinker with strong attention to detail and ability to translate complex information into plain English
  • Self-starter who works effectively both independently and within a team, thriving under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Experienced in social media management, EDM, Website CMS systems, and proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management capabilities with flexible multi-tasking abilities
  • Full driver's licence and own vehicle essential
